CHOOSE RESPONSIBLY FOR A CLEAN CITY CAMPAIGN CONTINUES WITH AWARENESS MESSAGES IN PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION STOPS IN BUCHAREST

“You don`t throw garbage at home. Why would you do it here?”

On the occasion of June 5th – World Environment Day, BAT Romania launched, as part of the “Choose Responsibly for a Clean City” platform, a new campaign aimed at raising awareness that individual gestures can have a significant impact on the way our city looks and on the environment as a whole.

During the campaign, developed in partnership with STB – Bucharest Transport Company, BAT decorated central bus stations in Bucharest similar to a home interior and highlighted the importance of protecting the community and the city we live in. Under the campaign message “You don`t throw garbage at home. Why would you do it here?” the campaign highlighted the importance of protecting the city we live in, the second home for the community we are all part of.

The circular economy is a core principle of our approach for a greener future. This approach means reducing the amount of plastic and waste, materials recycling and reuse and developing products based on sustainability principles. In BAT group, in 2021 we accomplished*:

• • 14.1% reduction in total waste generated (vs. 2017 baseline)

• • 35% of our operations sites achieved zero waste to landfill

• • 78.9% of our total waste recycled

• • 75% of plastic packaging capable of being reusable, recyclable or compostable
