BAT Romania launches a new invitation for partnership for sustainability

BAT Romania further develops its partnerships for innovative solutions to reach its sustainability ambitions
BAT’s objectives for environment protection are very clear:
Net zero emissions across all our value chain by 2050;
50% reduction of emissions for Scope 1 and 2 by 2030 vs the 2020 baseline;
25% reduction in waste generated in own operations by 2025 (vs 2017 baseline);
90% waste recycling in own operations by 2025;
35% reduction in water consumption in own operations vs the 2017 baseline and 30% of water recycled by 2025;
100% operation sites certified by Alliance for Water Stewardship by 2025;
100% packaging to be reusable, recyclable and compostable by 2025.

Bucharest, March 18th, 2024 - Based on its commitment to a sustainable business, BAT further develops its BE SUPPLIER program started in 2021, reaching out to commercial partners able to join us in our journey for innovation and sustainability for A Better Tomorrow™. The two major directions of the 2024 edition focus on innovative and efficient solutions to reduce waste and enhance circular economy, and solutions to reduce and reuse water.

The interested companies and start-ups are invited to register on the BE SUPPLIER platform starting with March 18th, 2024. The platform will remain available for registration for 6 weeks. The innovative and sustainable business solutions in waste management and water reduction will be highly appreciated and evaluated by a dedicated BAT team against the business needs and criteria. The selected companies will then be invited to partner with BAT on the journey for A Better Tomorrow™. All registered companies will be considered for future consultations.

Sustainability is front and center of our business

BAT Romania constantly invests in the development of innovative and effective solutions to achieve its sustainability goals. Our factory in Ploiesti, the second largest of the group in European Union and workplace for over 1,000 employees, is AWS certified for sustainable water consumption. The beginning of 2024 registered an extra step in the sustainability journey of our factory in Ploiesti, with the installation of close to 1,000 photovoltaic panels on the roof of the production hall, as part of our commitment for the development of green energy sources.

BAT started its journey for sustainability more than 20 years ago, with results recognized by prestigious international institutions, such as the Dow Jones Sustainability Index or the Financial Times. The company recently published its annual combined business and sustainability performance report for the year 2023, which highlights the progress registered in achieving its sustainability goals*.
